Family Friendly Things to Do in Las Vegas This Fall (2018)

This may surprise some people, but Las Vegas actually has many family friendly activities. Here is a list of some of our family's fall favorites!

Gilcrease Orchard

7800 N Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV 89131

Fall Hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7am-2pm.

Admission: FREE.

$3 for 6 apple cider donuts

$2/pint apple cider or pear cider

$5/gallon apple cider

$4 caramel apple

$4 bag of kettle corn

Produce prices vary.

Gilcrease is a family favorite of ours. We make sure to go every year. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip and is a hidden oasis for locals. Gilcrease has a large pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkins, along with your own fruits and vegetables throughout the orchard. They also have free tractor hayrides, a hay maze, great photo ops all over the orchard, scarecrow displays, a chicken coop, and a snack bar that sells their famous apple cider and donuts! You guys, these donuts are AMAZING. People will go just for the donuts! You have to try them when you're there! Gilcrease is a fun family tradition that we uphold every Fall, but honestly, it's a great place to visit all year long!

What to expect:

  • There's a parking lot located on the south side of the street.

  • Come early to beat the heat and the crowds.

  • Go earlier in October because that's when you'll have the best selection of pumpkins.

  • Bring comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk to the produce areas.

  • Hats, sunscreen, and water are all recommended.

  • Leave your pets at home. For food safety reasons, we do not allow pets into the orchard.

  • Strollers are fine, but know that most areas are not paved.

  • You can bring a wagon, but wheelbarrows are available for free on site and are a first come, first serve basis.

  • Make sure to catch a hay ride to take you all around the orchard. It has a few stops throughout the orchard, so if you need to get to a certain vegetable or fruit and don't feel like walking, this is definitely the way to go. Plus, it's a fun ride.

Haunted Harvest at The Springs Preserve

Boo Town Train! Tickets ($3 members, $5 non-members)

The train is available every night and has 11 departures. Make sure to get your tickets as soon as you get there before they sell out!

We haven't been able to visit for the past few years, but when our daughter was younger, we took her a couple of years in a row and she had a great time every time. They have trick-or-treat candy stations to visit throughout the “Bootanical” Garden, carnival games, a hay maze and petting zoo, monster training, craft activities, live entertainment, food vendors, and much more. Be prepared though, for a lot of walking. The Springs Preserve is huge! So, catching a ride on the train might be a good break.

Halloween Town Pumpkin Patch features more than 30 rides, games, and attractions. The rides are geared for children 2 – 11 years old and are genuinely vintage rides from the 1950s. Halloween Town also has bounce houses, giant slides, pumpkin decorating, food and of course, a HUGE variety of pumpkins. We went 2 years ago and the kids had a blast. They loved riding the vintage rides, but as a parent, I was worried at times. Some looked way too old to still be running properly, haha! But, nonetheless, the kids enjoyed it and the painted pumpkins that were on display when we went were fun to look at. I don't recall the prices of their pumpkins, but I know they have a lot to choose from.

We like to go every year because it's a fun family tradition that isn't too far from home. If you're going to the patch for pumpkins, they are very overpriced in my opinion. We just go for the rides and photo ops. Haha! They offer a bungee jump, mechanical rides, games, petting zoo, inflatable jump house, giant inflatable slides, and huge inflatable obstacle courses. The one we go to even has a train. My kids' favorites are the obstacle courses, the mechanical rides, the train, and the petting zoo. Out of all the pumpkin patches we've been to though, Stu Miller's has the best display of scarecrows, pumpkins, and hay bales! They seriously have great photo opportunities everywhere you look! So dress your kiddos in their fall best and have your camera ready! I would suggest going on a weekday because weekends, especially weekend evenings, get very crowded. And be aware, it can get costly depending on how many kids you have and what rides they want to do. The only attractions that costs 1 ticket are the giant slides. Other than that, everything else is 2 and up, mostly 3, so that can add up really quick since you have to pay per ticket. I really hope they offer a wristband option at some point in the future.

Moapa Valley Corn Maze

1500 Lewis Ranch Rd, Moapa, NV 89025

Hours: Open every weekend in October. Their dates & hours for 2018 is shown below:

Admission: $12, which includes the Day & Night Maze. Haunted corn maze, Zombie Paintball, the Hay Ride and some other activities will have additional costs. A detailed price sheet is below:

Okay, okay. So, this one isn't technically in Las Vegas, buuuut it's only about an hour outside of Vegas and definitely worth the drive! Not only do they have corn mazes, they also have a hay maze, pig races, pedal carts, cow train, Nevada’s tallest swing set, giant Jenga, corn hole, tug of war, a playground, see-saw, petting zoo, and a zip line. They even allow you to rent out a fire pit area so that you can make it an all day or all night event.

We went with a group of friends one crisp fall evening to checkout the Haunted Maze. Other than the fact that it scared the beejezuz out of me, it was a great experience. They also have fun backyard games scattered throughout the farm and they pride themselves in having Nevada's tallest swing set. It surely did not disappoint! I swung on it and it really does give you that pit of your stomach feeling. I couldn't stop giggling! Next year we will definitely be bringing the kids and trying it out in the daytime. I'm sure it'll be an awesome time.

What to expect:

  • This is a farm. There are bees. If you are allergic please bring an epi pen, avoid bright-colored clothing. Don’t swat the bees. There are no bees at night.

  • Bring cash. There are credit card machines but they can be very slow.

  • Bring sun protection if you visit during the day.

  • Bring water.

  • Strollers are welcome.

  • There are concessions, but they sometimes come with a long wait.

  • You’ll get dirty. Again, it's a farm.

  • The Haunted Maze has long lines. Prepare for a long wait, but it's definitely worth it!

To be honest, our family has not tried this attraction yet, but we have had several friends who have and they have all come back with raving reviews, so I just had to share it with all of you! Hopefully we can make time for it this year, but if not, we'll definitely be checking it out next year!

What to expect:

  • Due to limited availability, all tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time.

  • Each time slot is limited to16 people to ensure all children get individual attention and a chance to explore everything.

  • Costumes are not required, but definitely encouraged.

  • Fun for all ages.

So there you have it! Some of our family's favorite fall activities in or near Las Vegas. Check them out and let me know what you think! Happy Fall ya'll!
